The Junior English Programme

ETC can accept individual junior students when there are other junior students booked to study at the college.  The Individual Junior English Programme is designed for students who are not part of a group.  Please check with the Principal to be sure that we can accept a single junior student (and integrate him or her with the other junior students).

Maximum course duration: 3 weeks.

Included in the programme:

• 20 group lessons (=15 hours) of General English per week.
  Lessons are generally run in the mornings (from 09.00 hours until 12.30 hours), but we cannot guarantee this timetable during busy periods.  Books and other study materials are included in the course fees.
  
• Shared host family accommodation – where available.  If shared accommodation is not available, or if the student requests single accommodation, there will be a £10 per week supplement payable.  Please enquire at the time of booking.  Lunches are provided by the host family at weekends only.
  
• 1 full day excursion per week.
  
• 5 afternoon sports and / or social activities per week (eg. football, volleyball, crazy games, DVD show, quiz night, treasure hunt).
  
• A minimum of 2 evening parties per course (normally one welcome party and one goodbye party).
  
• Lunches from Monday to Friday at the college café.
  
• The services of an ETC Activities Organiser for all scheduled ETC activities.
  
• Criminal Records Bureau check on all host families accommodating Junior students.
  
• Enrolment.
  
• Identity card (students should please supply at least 2 passport photos), Bournemouth Map and Welcome Pack.
  
• Academic and welfare counselling: Information, help and advice in personal and academic matters (including arrangement of emergency medical treatment as provided by the British National Health Service, if this is necessary).
  
• Initial Placement Test and end of course Certificate.

Fees for Individual Junior Students

Enrolment Fee: £50 (payable once only).
This fee will be retained if a student fails to obtain a visa to study in the UK).

fees depend on the destination and activity type.  Please ask for further information.
You will find that ETC often arranges half-day and full-day trips (usually at weekends) to places of cultural interest. Visits to London, Windsor, Salisbury and Stonehenge, Bath and the Isle of Wight are very popular with our students. The ETC social programme helps you to get to know students and members of staff, gives you the chance to practise and consolidate your English and opens the door to British culture and entertainment.
Typical cost per full-day excursion: £38.
Typical cost per half-day excursion: £26.

Please note that airport transfer, door-to-door transportation and insurance are NOT included in these fees.  These items are available at extra cost, as follows:

Airport Transfer
London Heathrow Airport: £110 pick up. £210 pick up and return.
London Gatwick Airport: £120 pick up. £230 pick up and return.
Luton Airport: £130 pick up. £250 pick up and return.
Stansted Airport: £140 pick up. £270 pick up and return.
Bournemouth Airport: £40 pick up. £70 pick up and return.
Southampton Airport: £60 pick up. £110 pick up and return.
Clients will be picked up from the airport and taken directly to their accommodation. On return, clients will be picked up from their accommodation and taken to the departures area of the airport.
Waiting charges: after the first hour, you will be charged £20 per hour for any delays. This is a waiting charge to cover the cost of parking and the driver’s time.

Door to door transportation: £120 per week.

Insurance: From £10 per week.  Please ask for an up-to-date price, as this figure is subject to change.  Student insurance is arranged by Endsleigh Insurance Services.  Students are strongly advised to arrange insurance to cover personal possessions, money, passport, fee reimbursement, cancellation, personal liability, medical and personal injury.
